Government Sales Lead

Washington, D.C. or Southern California · Full time, in person, with heavy travel

Stellios Technologies is building advanced high power microwave and energy systems for defense, aerospace, and energy.

We are hiring a Government Sales Lead to open, win, and grow government programs across the entire Stellios portfolio.

Bring a buyer with you. We expect you to name a real program or office on day one and get us into the room within your first month.

What You Will Sell

The portfolio spans two very different maturity levels, and you will sell both at once:

  • Stellios Shield — compact megawatt class high power microwave directed energy for counter-UAS, area denial, and electronic warfare. TRL 6 to 7, so this is a pilot unit sale to an operational customer today.
  • Stellios HPM systems — high power microwave sources for fusion heating and current drive, industrial process heating, and space applications. TRL 6 to 7.
  • Stellios Core — compact aneutronic fusion for energy generation. TRL 2 to 3, so this is a research sale into the research arms of the Department of Energy, the Department of War, and comparable offices.
  • Stellios Halo and Stellios Lightning — advanced propulsion systems. Early stage, sold the same way as Core.

What You Will Own And/Or Support

  • Government sales strategy and the account plan for every service, agency, lab, and program office we target
  • Pipeline from first meeting through award: qualification, capture, teaming, pricing support, and close
  • Research-stage capture for the fusion and propulsion lines — SBIR, STTR, OTA, BAA, CRADA, and direct research office funding
  • Pilot unit sales for Shield and the HPM product line, working with our engineers on requirements, demonstrations, and test events
  • Relationships with program offices, PEOs, requirements shops, service labs, national labs, and prime contractors we team with
  • Congressional and OSD engagement where it advances a program, working with outside counsel and advisors
  • Demonstrations, site visits, and test events, including the logistics of getting government customers in front of live hardware
  • Proposal and white paper development with the technical team, and the compliance discipline that goes with it
  • An honest, current forecast — what is real, what is not, and what it will take

Who We Are Looking For

The bar is specific: on your first day you should already know at least one extremely high likelihood buyer. You should be able to name the office, name the person or the role, explain what they buy and why they would take a meeting with us. We are hiring someone who pays for themselves.

Beyond that, we want one or more of the following:

  • Capture or business development at a prime contractor or a defense technology company, where you personally carried and won hardware programs
  • A record of winning research-stage government funding — SBIR, STTR, OTA, BAA — for technology that was not yet a product
  • Government-side experience in a program office, PEO, contracting shop, requirements organization, service lab, or national lab
  • Congressional, OSD, or defense policy staff experience, with the relationships and the understanding of how money actually moves

You need to be equally credible selling a pilot unit of real hardware and selling a research program for a technology that will not be a product for years. Those are different sales, different buyers, and different money, and this role does both.

You do not need to be an engineer, but you must be able to hold a technical conversation, carry a requirement accurately back to our engineers, and never oversell what the hardware can do.

An active security clearance is a strong plus, and we will note it, but it is not required to apply.

This role requires access to U.S. export controlled information. Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control laws, including U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.

You should be based in the Washington, D.C. area or Southern California. If you are elsewhere in the United States, you must be willing to travel heavily.

Competitive base, meaningful equity, and commission tied to what you actually close.

Apply for this roleRésumé and a short screen. One question asks you to name a buyer.
