Stellios Technologies is building advanced high power microwave and energy systems for defense, aerospace, and energy.
We are hiring a CNC & Assembly Technician to help stand up our machine shop and then make the parts and assemblies our hardware is built from.
You will help choose and buy the machines, set them up, and then run them. Parts you cut on Monday get assembled into a running system the same week.
What You Will Own And/Or Support
- Specifying, sourcing, and buying machine tools, tooling, workholding, and metrology as we build the shop out
- Installing, leveling, commissioning, and maintaining machines, and keeping them running
- Machining across manual and CNC equipment — mills, lathes, grinders, and whatever we add next
- Programming and setup, including CAM, workholding, fixturing, and speeds and feeds
- Reading, marking up, and creating drawings and models, with real GD&T
- Precision parts in aluminum, stainless, copper, and refractory metals, including vacuum compatible hardware
- Mechanical assembly and integration — fasteners and torque, alignment, shimming, fits, and getting it to go together
- Inspection and first article checks with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and CMM where required
- Working directly with the engineers, and telling them when a part is drawn in a way that cannot be made or cannot be made affordably
- Shop safety, tooling inventory, consumables, and keeping the place in a state you would be proud to show a customer
Who We Are Looking For
You build things with your hands and you are good at it. No degree is required — we care about parts you have personally made and hardware you have personally assembled.
What matters most to us:
- You have set up a shop, or major machines in one, and know what to buy and what not to buy
- You are competent on both manual and CNC equipment, and know when the manual machine is the right answer
- You read drawings and GD&T fluently, and can create a drawing when one does not exist
- You hold real tolerances and can prove it, and you inspect your own work
- You assemble as well as you machine — the part is not done until it goes into the machine and works
You should be comfortable in an early stage environment where the shop is not finished, the process is not written yet, and the answer to most questions is that you figure it out and then write it down.
This role requires access to U.S. export controlled information. Candidates must qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control laws, including U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.
This role is on site in Southern California.
